TMBRS Birdie Chop

Tranquility Manor Birdie Chop

· Any four veggies listed in the bird chop list. Our birds favorites: corn, cauliflower, bell peppers, squash, sweet

potatoes. (Steamed and cut into pieces based on bird,

Our birds prefer small pieces)

· Brown rice, quinoa, or Veggie pasta ( fav is the spirals or spaghetti style) (cooked)

· Cilantro and basil (herb favs)

Once all ingredients are cooked/steamed. Let cool.

Then cut veggies into small pieces preferred by your bird. (If fresh veggies from garden I cut them before steaming)

Mix all ingredients together then serve about 2 tablespoons to large birds. 1 tablespoon to smaller birds. (I adjust this according to what I know they will eat to prevent waste.)

Hint: to hide veggies that you are trying to get picky birds to eat such as leafy greens blend them in blender and add to grains to cook.

Note: our veterinarian prefers us to limit leafy greens to once or twice a week)

Preferred Pellets

Dr. Breeze recommends Harrisons pellets. Harrisons comes in different sizes and potency based on the need of your Bird.  We recommend you consult with your avian vet to determine if high potency is needed.

However, there are many we are in the process of trying as some picky eaters prefer one pellet over another. We use pellets in addition to fresh chop and veggies to ensure proper nutrition for the birds.

Hint: When transitioning a bird from seed to chop and pellets remove all food from cage the night before. Serve pellets or fresh chop first thing in the morning. Your Bird is more likely to try the new food. If you have a bond with the bird you can pretend to eat the chop or pellets. This encourages them and lets them know it is indeed food for them to consume.
